I don’t even know what i just read. All i know is that i loved every page of

re-read 2023:

idk why im so stupid as to emotional damage myself with this. But at the same time i do know, it’s because this series is a master piece. Like the emotional damage this caused in me was just wow but i always come back because the plot is so good. I love Neils and Andrews relationship the “I hate you but if anyone hurts you i’ll hurt them.” chef kiss. And over all i love Neil as a character. I have a thing for characters that are secretly good at things (like speaking several languages and listening to other peoples conversations

Such a beautiful mess.

So sorry but this is the sort of book I LOVE lol. Reads like fanfiction I fear (positive). The .25 off is because I don't love how the only out character is portrayed. Somebody else needs to be gay and not like that for a book to get away with that. From the perspective of Real College Sports the coach is fucking insane lmao. From personal experience I can tell you nobody is allowed to live with the coach 😭 but also the giving them alcohol and calling them the r word. This was published pre safesport though. Exy would be included because their governing body is involved in the Olympics 🤓. I need to rejoin a team sport

tis was one of the worst books i have ever read, i wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Listen, I didn't say it was good, I said I liked it.

The most mixed bag I've ever encountered I think:
Cons:
- A staggering amount of slurs
- Cringe
Pros:
- Cast made up of deranged weirdos
- Incredible narrative momentum
- Conversations that allegedly take place in german but are represented in english on the page and full of idioms that don't exist in german so I could entertain myself by trying to imagine what they actually said
- Cringe ✨

In conclusion, I picked this book up with the goal of becoming as insane as the people I know who already like it and I'm happy to report that I succeeded

I F*****g love this book. I was somehow afraid before reading it, because it was recommended as similar to the Raven Cycle and in the past that ended badly for me, very badly. Fortunately this was not the case.

The first thing I would like to say is that I don’t really care about the invented sport and there is no much about it. It’s only an excuse for the plot to be moving. It’s a surprise for me (me not caring for it) because sports anime and manga are my fave, so one would assume that book about sports would right up my ally, but now.

Plot itself is pretty good and I hooked the first chapter I read. For some reason, before reading, I was thinking it will be about werewolves, are similar creatures, but I was wrong and it’s only about highly dysfunctional college students with a little bit of mafia second generation in the mix trying to play fancy lacrosse.
By the way, kudos for the fictional inventors of the sports for thinking that what lacrosse was missing was violence.

I can’t connect with any characters at this point. I like Neil and Kevin is like an anime character so I’m cool with him. But Nicky and Andrew are not my fave in this. Nicky is one ray of sunshine but also kind of rapey. And Andrew I just don’t like and is weird because I normally like the psychos.
I was a little surprised of how the thing with Seth ended, but I liked how the author handled the reactions for the rest of the characters. I kind of liked Seth, I like assholes.
The rest of them are fine and all of them were competently written. Sometimes is the only thing one can demand.

In general I really enjoyed this book and for the first time in a long time I was thinking about continuing reading while doing other things, working for example, like junkie and just for that it deserves high rating from me.
