Oh, this was an absolute and utter delight. Mitford has such command over her sentences, and her characters -- Fanny, Linda, Lord Merlin, Uncle Matthew, Davey, etc. -- are as mesmerizing as they are memorable. Lily James is going to play the heck out of Linda in the new television adaptation.
