This book tore me in two & tried to stitch me back up. I cried, laughed, ached, and held my breath more times than I could count. The Nightingale is devastating and beautiful in equal measure, and I know it will stay with me forever. Kristen Hannah’s writing is so raw and heartfelt, truly one of the most powerful stories I’ve ever read. I’m never going to forget this one!!

Heartbreaking and wonderful storytelling

The book was definitely good and it was probably because of the long time it took me to read it that I wasn't completely involved.
This book shows the horrors of the Second World War in the everyday life.
I thing it is good that some words/sentences were in French.
I found the different ways of being brave particularly beautiful in this book.
All the characters had moments where you understood them and others where you didn't. Just like in real life.
(it once helped that i learn French at school)

emotional

I can't decide if it was all the hype about this book or the audiobook narrator...but this was kind of a miss for me. I like Kristin Hannah's books well enough, but I don't know that I loved her take on WWII. I did enjoy the setting in France, but the story felt often convenient and predictable. I prefer The Great Alone for her books, and for WWII I'd recommend many others before this.
