Well, this book has a few interesting ideas, but overall it is not my cup of tea and unfortunately, I can't appreciate it.

Did I read this because of the Harry Styles got Watermelon Sugar? Yes. Am I sorry? No.

This book is whimsical, dream-like and surreal. It seems to be post-apocalyptic (but could also be in an alternative universe) and focuses on the simple lives of a small community (iDeath) endeavouring to simply plod their way through life enjoying a peaceful existence. But as we know from history, this doesn't usually work out, life is full of complications no matter how much we may try to simplify it.

My favourite part of the world is that they "bury" their dead in glass coffins and put a fox fire inside it and lay them at a bottom of a river where they glow.

The narrator initially presents his life as a pleasurable, almost utopian experience when the fact is it is actually quite the opposite. I loved the dark passages that contrasted with the whimsy of the world the narrator tries to build. Especially when he tells the story of the tigers who come to eat his parents, but help him with his homework on the side.

I'm a big, big fan of surrealism and I felt that this book was more art than story, so it's probably not for everyone. But I really liked it.

Quick read. Unique dystopian town and charming community. Narrator is the biggest turnoff of the book. He can be unbearable.

Liked the atmosphere. Strange in a good way. I had some/triggered interesting thoughts

Me gustó mucho. Sin duda, leeré otro libro de él :-)

A light, quick read. Found it quite amusing. Was not what I expected, but nice anyways. Would reread it someday i think.
