[4/5 ★★★★☆] “I’ve been dishonestly yours. And it looks like that’s not changing.”
“Dishonestly Yours” follows the story of Phoebe, who is seeking to embark on a new honest life after a lifetime of family scams and mischiefs.

It didnt hook me as much as the addicted/calloway but that level is VERY hard to reach since its my favorite series ever but I can definitely feel the potential for this one. I like the characters, concept and overall plot and vibes and I love that its set in the same universe as the calloway sisters series, they were drinking the fizz soda in a scene
Friends to lovers, angsty and messy love (not my fav), morally gray characters, wealthy coastal town. Morally gray characters and messy/toxic is definitely not my vibe usually, that just isn’t my style and what I like when I’m reading but I think I like this one because its by these authors and I love them. I know that’s just a me-thing tho and some people will definitely like it more than I Did. I almost gave this 3 or 3.5 stars but I’m giving it 4 mostly for the end and the potential for the rest of the series

review
➡️ first book in the webs we weave-series by krista & becca ritchie
At the beginning I was quite sceptical - Phoebes unwavering loyalty towards her mother made me concerned of where this was going. Meanwhile, Rocky has a more healthy perspective on their parents. In the end, I'm glad this did not make me stop reading because this topic actually gets addressed later on.
Not just this, also the reason why Hailey and Phoebe leave the con-life behind in the first place. For this reveal the book has kept me in suspense for SO long to a point where I skimmed forward to finally read this part (yes, I sometimes do that, leave me alone. After I read it, I got back and read the parts I skimmed)
That said, there are a few scenes that I don't feel are necessary and that prolong the story. I'm not even talking about the flashbacks (those I liked very much!), I mean the jealousy dramas and stuff like that, Phoebes and Rockys endless back and forth. Actually I enjoyed the pining, but at some point they should have gotten together and called it a day. Their reasons not to were just not good enough. However, as a couple they make sense to me and I hope to experience more of their dynamic as a couple in the second book as well as more of their siblings.
Hailey is my favourite by the way.
Tropes and themes:
- best friend's brother
- con-artists
- grumpy x grumpy
- it's always been you
- small town
- morally grey
- family and found family
- dual pov

I had to stew in this review for a bit, really think about what I just read. My consensus is I’m pleasantly surprised I liked this.
It took me months to read past page 50 of this book. Literally months. I started in March and finished in July. I just wasn’t connecting with it. But then I realized that outside factors were making it hard for me to actually get into it, and it wasn’t the book itself. Because once I picked it up again, I sat down and read over 100 pages in a sitting.
You’re telling me this book is about con artists? How can you possible make that romantic? Well…Krista and Becca did it. The tension and angst between Rocky and Phoebe was some of the best I’ve read in a while. The longing for something, or in this case someone, you can’t have went deep between them. I physically couldn’t wait until the inevitable happened. Their chemistry is just so chef’s kiss.
Without spoiling, both the plot twist and the ending were great. They made me excited to read the next book in the series. Barnes and Noble, here I come.
