i wanted to enjoy this erotica written by a woman but i found nin taking the reader to an awful place way too many times. is she trying to find out where the line is and then cross it? because i think the line was frequently crossed from erotic to disturbing in this novel. i kind of wish i could erase some of the things i read from my mind. on the other hand, the writing is so descriptive it easily transmits you to the worlds she is creating. i enjoyed taking trips all around the world with the individual stories.

Just writing a short and sweet review for this one. I really wanted to like it since I have heard so much about Anais Nin’s work, but it just didn’t work out for me. I thought some of the topics in these stories were a bit bizarre and others didn’t catch my interest. I may pick up one of her other books in the future to see if I connect with it more.
