Good read, good story. I like this new character, but it will take another book or two for me to grow comfortable with her.

Michael Connelly did great with his writing per usual - but there were points in the story where my eyes kept skipping ahead because I thought there was too much unnecessary detail

Love Michael Connelly and very excited that he created another interesting character in Renee Ballard. Now I can look forward to Bosch, Haller and Ballard.

Like his previous books, L.A. Is the backdrop for this cop thriller. Ballard is stuck on the Late Show (11-7) shift as a detective after an event which is eventually explained. Two events occur that Ballard becomes ensnared in. Connelly hasn't lost his touch and we get to follow a nice fast paced unraveling of both situations. Fun read.

This was a great book! Bosch isn't going to be around too much longer (IMO), so I'm really happy with the story that's building around Rene Ballard. Great ending to this one.
