I was really confused in the worst way possible. I was not a fan of this interpretation of Frankenstein. I could not follow with character motivations and plot. I will try Victor LaValle's novels and novellas, but this was disappointing.

Victor Frankenstein’s monster, created out of grief, now consumed with rage. Frankenstein’s descendant Dr. Baker out of grief restores her son but as a vessel for her rage. Gruesome revenge ensues as the body parts splatter the pages. This is also a story of hope amongst the death.

The art is crisp and clean and functional but what really stands out are Micaela Dawn’s covers all thick lines and diffuse colours.

The story is non linear and really could have used some more time to build. It can be hard to pace a miniseries and this one could be a bit longer.

This comic and the original Frankenstein should be taught in every high school classroom. An amazing, ingenious retelling with an American twist that uncovers so much of the ugly we try to hide.
