I loved everything about this book. The road trip, the steamy seans the banter and how they care for one another. Absolutely loved Asher and Jesse's story so much.

*ARC Review*
I am a fan of all of Kayla's books; and let me tell you - this one hits different in all the right ways.
In the acknowledgments, Kayla describes this as the hardest book she's ever written due to the highly personal connection she shares with Jesse, the lead female character. Kayla and Jesse have Kawasaki Disease. In a very basic explanation, it causes inflammation in the vessels that carry blood throughout the body. They've dealt with heart attacks and both have ICD implants (think defibrillator where pacemakers are usually placed). Because of this condition, Kayla is able to interject her personal experiences, (I am guessing here) thoughts, and feelings on the topic. This makes for a very raw and emotional story for Jesse, who makes a bucket list with her bestie to reclaim her life after getting her ICD implant placed.
Enter bucket list item #1, who just happens to ... welp, I will leave that tidbit for you to find out on your own, dear reader. Anyway - Asher. This is the first book I've read where the lead male character has an actual 'Dad Bod' and let me tell you - I AM HERE FOR IT! Seriously, no man I've ever interacted with looks like most of the men described in the majority of these novels. Asher, however, is everything that a 'normal' man is, though don't let that stop you - he's not normal by any means. He knows what he wants, he goes after it - but he's sensitive, caring, funny, confident, and a Cat Daddy. Dare I say I am seeing a daddy trend here? Kayla's last book, Whirlwind, has the Tornado Daddy (you should probably read that, too).
Getting to ride on the journey of a lifetime with these two is so much fun. It's risky, it's fulfilling, it is worth it! You're going to love Jesse and Asher, and of course - GusGus. Shoutout to my girl Melissa, too - because she is best friend goals.
Thank you so much to Kayla Grosse for the absolute honor of belonging to the Street Team and having the opportunity to read and review Change of Pace with my honest thoughts and opinions. Loved it, girl!

This was so sweet honestly. Asher is my dream man. No shot. He’s THE man. Always so understanding and the YEARNING?! Obsessed. And Jesse is so strong. I loved her story so much. I did cry a little lol but it’s the book’s fault lmao😆💗
