The spy has been hiding in plain sight waiting to make his move. Plan A has been unsuccessful, so they move to plan B. Plan B begin to fall into place as their target enters her first year at the Kingmakers.

I really liked the concept of this book. I did figure out who the spy was before starting this book, BUT
I didn't figure out how complex this story would be. Our spy(s) has pulled off 3 years without anyone figuring out his secret. Ares, is not the actual Ares. He is none other than Rafe Petrov, Ivan's son. He and his mother have been hiding out at Kingmakers trying to track down Ivan who has been kidnapped by Nix's father.

I love how intertwined all of these books are and how the other characters are so present in each book. I feel like unlike the other books, the romance is not the main focus of the story. I liked that instead of the romance takeovering the storyline, we had more of a focus on the Mafia elements.  I also liked how the 3rd POV in this book was the spy's father. I would have also loved to get his mother's POV, I think that would have been interesting.

I have to say the low points of this book were
actually the spicy scenes. I found them very awkwardly worded and the whole breastfeeding scene (Ivan) was uncomfortable and off-putting.  These scenes actually brought the story and my rating down.

Tropes: secret identity, mafia, rival families

Wow, what a culmination and gripping conclusion, weaving easter eggs from the previous three books. It wasn't until the second book I was starting to pick up on things, and the blurb I saw for the fourth had me scouring book three for hints. I may or may not have put off another read-along to make sure I finished this instead.

It was bittersweet reading the collective couples' epilogues, but I just saw that Sophie is giving us one more book, so I recommend you don't read them until after that one once it's released!
This is my favorite book of the series for such excellent plotting and laying out the groundwork that paid off magnificently.

I'll miss Kingmakers... at least until we get our last story.

Still can't believe I managed to find a mafia book I love, thanks Sophie!

I really really loved this one!!! The spy and Nix were amazing together and the way everything played out was so satisfying and well thought out - I didn’t personally like this quite as much as Miles and Zoe or Dean and Cats books quite but it was really really satisfying to read and I loved the way it came together
My main issue with this book specifically (along with ongoing issues from other books which I’ve talked about in my other reviews of the other books in this series like lack of birth control etc) was the age gap tbh - they didn’t talk about it tbh and I totally forgot one was a freshman and one was a senior but damn that’s kinda weird 😬 so ya that definitly wasn’t my favorite thing

Wowza. What a way to end the series. I appreciated getting the story of Ivan and Marko but getting it from Ivan’s POV slowed the book down for me tbh. I like how all the other characters were revisited and wrapped up at the end.
