boring! rlly had to push to get through. the blurb has everything i could want - women’s stories, historical vibes, astronomy. but apparently you can’t have cool themes and a good story. like i finished the book so clearly it wasn’t THAT bad and it honestly was FINE but i expected more and i usually read good books so this flopped

That is one of the most informative and engaging historical fictions I have ever read. Also that cover!!

Set in Florence 1496, Luna is one of the eldest of the notable families. She is unique in so many ways, including her thirst for knowledge and ways that go against the norms that were set for women of the era. Also she is deformed, for which she was rejected by almost everyone, including her own mother. Except for her father, who gave Luna everything she wanted; knowledge and books. Her father starts to regret his decision when Luna becomes nothing like the ordinary women of the age, who are prepared to get married and bear heir. At a time when women’s intelligence is ignored and men dominated every sphere, Luna fell in love with astronomy and wanted to be different.

This is a very well researched book about politics, religion and fundamental principles that dominated the time. It was a pleasure reading about an atypical woman with a deformity which itself is rare. It was full of emotions and strong elements that I enjoyed very much.

A must read for lovers of historical fiction.

Great book! I couldn’t put it down. If you love history you’ll love this book. From the unique and varied perspectives to the deep dives into florentine politics this book was stunning!
