Oooh Charles has me feeling a certain type of way.
Really enjoyed this novella. It is an interesting relationship between the Alpha wolves and the Omega wolf. Really excited to see how the Omega wolf's powers work within this specific mythology.
I like Charles and Anna, but only because I have already read other books in this series. I do not think this book does a good job of establishing them as a couple. The primary reason for that is this author's regular use of rape as a "bad thing" that happens to her main female characters. In her Mercy Thompson series, we are graphically involved in Mercy's rape. In this series, we are told Anna has been "passed around" a Chicago pack -- she has been repeatedly raped by multiple men for THREE YEARS. And all the other pack members did nothing until one of them realized she was an Omega. It was okay to pass her around when she was "just a woman" but not once he realized she had special powers? I know there was some Alpha command involved in keeping some of the secrecy, but I just can't deal with a pack full of people who wouldn't try to do everything they could to prevent THREE YEARS of constant rape of someone. And the information about the "passing around" is always mentioned in this offhand manner, like it was a bad thing that happened but it's done now. Everything okay.
Charles is the pack executioner. Bran is the head of ALL the werewolves. Why are her rapists allowed to live? If the wolves "police themselves", this is a DRASTIC failure. Why would any rapist be allowed to live in a culture that punishes all other violations with death?
Briggs needs to wake up and quit using rape as a plot device for female damage.

I enjoyed this group of short stories. The first one is the best by a longshot, but the others have interesting ideas. Be aware that there is a lot of sex in the last short story and it is quite graphic.
I would be interested in reading more of these stories, particularly the Patricia Briggs ones (and I have already!) This is a the origin story for the Charles and Anna saga.

originally bought this book just for the alpha and omega story, but i actually ended up liking all of the stories. i would advise though, if you have a kindle or other ereader, the novellas that lead into series such as the alpha and omega and mona vie, can be bought separate
I didn't care for the final story at all; that dropped it to 3 stars. I liked the other 3 at 4 stars each.
In love with Anna and Charles, and learning about pack hierarchy according to werewolves is really interesting.
This rating is only for the Alpha & Omega short story.
I very much enjoyed this peek into Anna & Charles. Although I was fairly certain I knew who was causing the sickness in the pack as soon as I still enjoyed the reveal. I am very interested in reading more of this series.
