Jeanne Savery's THE FAMILY MATCHMAKER is about a young woman mistaken for a teenager. Georgianna Beverly, 'Georgi', meets Lord Everhart for the first time while on top of a statue in a parish yard; she is cleaning it. Everhart, a confirmed bachelor (aren't they all?), has inherited some local land and is on his way to inspect it. This is the beginning of their unusual friendship with a little of the 'ick' factor; he constantly refers to Georgi as 'my child'.

Georgi has been raised by her grandfather and has been educated to be a thinker. Just shy of turning twenty years old she is a writer and tends to speak her mind, something which gets her into trouble when she is around others. Everhart makes a pact with her to keep a mama from putting him in a compromising position so he is forced to wed her daughter. Things backfire because he starts to have feelings for Georgi while he still believes her to be so young. He knows it is wrong but he can't quite figure out why the young lady acts like a 16-year-old and then appears older.

There are lots of misunderstandings among family members and friends. The plot is pure fluff and squeaky clean; light kisses at the most. I kept expecting more; hence, the two stars for OK. If you are looking for a Regency romance that is light and doesn't tax your mind, try THE FAMILY MATCHMAKER.
