to say this book made me feel all the emotions possible would be a massive understatement, because wow, this entire book had so much going on- but in particular the ending? tears.

as i’ve said about six of crows, the writing style, and the world are so beautiful and intriguing; but in particular the characters are just incredible. i love each of them so dearly, and all i wanted for them all along was to find peace. the relationships, and found family, in this story are genuinely so amazingly written- nina and inej’ friendship is one of my favourites of all time.

this book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, the storytelling and plotting was incredible, and overall this was just an unforgettable book and an outstandingly beautiful duology! i’ll miss these characters dearly, but im excited to get to king of scars next, staying in this world a bit longer.

another absolute banger !!! the only issue with this book and six of crows is that i will likely never experience the high of reading such a good book again :(

Whilst the review on the front cover of "Game of Thrones meets Ocean's Eleven" makes me cringe slightly, it's actually pretty apt. It's very well written, weaving characters and plots together in a way that keeps you reading way past your bedtime, though it does sometimes gets a bit annoying when something happens that you had no inkling was coming - sometimes it's nice to have a bit of warning and feel superior that you picked up on the hints of how things might turn out. Nonetheless, it was a brilliant book, and integrating the characters from the previous trilogy was a nice touch (though would have liked to have heard more about Alina and Mal).
