kaz is too genius for my brain to catch up
i’m speechless.
i just gave this five stars, so it’s good.
gorgeously written and well-plotted, this duology absolutely stole my heart. everything here was so well done, from the heists to the fights to the love stories. everything was so believable and soft and full of rage.
and i don’t even like fantasy.
gonna be obsessed with this on pinterest now <3
again, i’m going to say that i recommend this really only for ages 16-17+, because it’s good — undeniably good — but so dark. inej’s memories of sexual violence in particular are fairly graphic. i didn’t read these until i was 16, and im grateful - the things that you read, especially when you’re young, have the power to alter your worldview and even do psychological damage, and i think that this would’ve traumatized me as a child.
12/10 stars
content:
language: one use of the f word, a couple of sh*t and b**ch. infrequent pg language as well.
violence: fairly frequent, graphic and disturbing. corpse controlling, bloody smackdowns (kaz is good with that cane), disturbing imagery and threats, you get the picture.
sex: kissing/touching (between two het couples and one and a half queer couples.) three canonically gay characters. inej was a prostitute (technically csa), so her flashbacks and memories are brief but highly disturbing. mild sexual references & jokes.

Like the first sequence, this book was totally awesome! again, the plot twists were so unexpected and exciting.
I ADORE the characters and the relationship they have with each other (found family trope ahhh)!
there was one really sad part that made me sob a bit, but I've been slowly working through it :,)
in general, great book and you should definitely read it!!!

I was excited to continue with these characters and I loved getting to know them more in this book. I really love this world and I have come to really care about all of these characters so much.
There were a lot of twists and turns throughout this but it wasn’t too much that it detracted from the story. I never quite knew where things were leading but that made it exciting.
I hope we get more from the Crows someday!

CAN I GIVE THIS BOOK MORE THAN FIVE STARS PLEASE?!?!?! I freaking loved this book! It did not disappoint at all. It took me a while to get after I finished its prequel "Six of Crows", but I am so glad I finally read it. I think this book is probably now my favorite read of the year, due to how good it was. All of the characters were just as amazing and more than they were in the first book. I loved how all of my OTP's had their moments, and their struggles. There were so many twists in this book! I kept falling for everything that Leigh Bardugo threw, and then was like "Setiously, Lauren?" when I saw how the twist ended up. KAZ IS SO FREAKING RUTHLESS AND BRILLIANT, I CANNOT DEAL! He was always a step ahead, and no one else, not even Inej, knew his whole plan. I think that's what made this book so awesome. The things you thought were going to happen, happened or were changed, and more happened. I just wish there was one more book, to be completely honest. I LOVED THE ENDING!!! It's like everyone got a good ending ( except for one character but I will not spoil) and the antagonist got the revenge they needed to get. Just a phenomenal book, completely.
