Such a great, nail biting plot! The characters are so well written and each have a distinctive voice. The motives sound credible too.
The only thing which is a bit overcomplicated is the ending in my opinion; at times it is hard to keep track and I found myself having to reread parts.

3.5-3.75 Stars
Really solid thriller/character drama. Doesn’t overstay its welcome, well-written, the twist isn’t crazy but wasn’t predictable, just pretty great all around. Not a book I’m going to return to again and again, but one I’d recommend to anyone.

Round up to 3.5 stars ⭐️ very interesting story about “broken” people, where do we fit in along with a mystery and mayhem. Some plot points were a bit far fetched, but I still found it enjoyable
Can someone please explain to me why this is called “The Vacancy in Room 10” when Room 10 is, in fact, NOT vacant the entire time?
I thought the first 80% of the book was great -- I was engaged, I didn't have any answers, and I wanted to understand...But....I felt a little let down by the last 20%. Not that it was bad, for me it just didn't match the goodness of the first part.

The Vacancy in Room 10 didn’t wow me nor keep my attention, I was easily distracted from reading. It was a slow read and impractical. However, I did finish it because I was waiting for the OMG moment. The story line is told by two women at the Sycamore apartment complex. The Sycamore was a hotel and converted into low rent apartments.
Cass was cast out by her “friends” when her live in boyfriend finds a much younger girlfriend. Not only does she have to start over with a blind sided broken heart but a castaway from all ties linked to him. Cass relies on her tools of the trade “handy ma’am” and becomes a live in rent free manager at the apartments. She has lowered her standards and uses blackmailing as an income. She seems to know and see a lot going on at the complex, hence giving her insight.
Anna’s husband rented a unit that he used as his art studio. Anna moves into his unit after the dreadful call she received from him. He said someone died because of him and he couldn’t handle the emotional trauma and guilt. His body is found and presumed suicide. However, the investigation looks more like homicide.
The storyline with the ladies at the pool and their kids swimming was real. Cartel played a part in the storyline and just became to far fetched and unrealistic.
Maybe I had higher standards because of the reviews and most anticipated book. . . To many absurd situations.

had a great time reading The Vacancy in Room 10! This thriller takes place in The Sycamores, a rundown apartment complex where secrets lurk behind every door. Anna moves in, trying to uncover the truth about her husband’s hidden past, but she quickly butts heads with Cass, the no-nonsense property manager who has her own baggage.
For me, Cass’s arc was the standout—she felt layered and real, and I was way more invested in her journey than Anna’s. The setting was eerie, the twists kept me guessing, and the tension built up perfectly. Some moments felt a bit over the top, but honestly, I didn’t mind. If you love a moody, suspenseful thriller with flawed but fascinating characters, this one’s worth picking up!
