Man it was 4 chapters in until I realized these were two different women. They sounded the same. Both whiny both lame. Dumb kids running around too

Anna’s life takes a wild turn when she receives a phone call from her husband Henry. What he reveals shatters everything she thought she knew about him. And just when she thinks she thinks she might be finding answers, she is shocked and devastated to learn that Henry has been found dead. Now, Anna is on a mission for answers. She’s determined to uncover the truth behind the man she married—the mild-mannered artist she thought she knew.
Artists often rent studios, and that’s where Anna starts her journey. She stays at a place called the Sycamore. It used to be a run-down motel, and the apartments aren’t much better. Anna hopes that the quirky neighbors can help her learn more about her husband, Henry. And guess what? Anna realizes that she really had no idea who the man she married was!
Get ready for a wild ride! This book is packed with secrets, lies, and danger that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s like a rollercoaster that never stops twisting and turning. You won’t want to put it down until you reach the very end. Trust me, you’ll be hooked from the very first page.
Many thanks to Graydon House and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Not bad but definitely my least favorite of hers. I was so afraid at the end the main character was going to get back with her POS ex and THANK GOD that did not happen. This book was really good until about 3/4 of the way through where it felt like the slow burn plot suddenly moved super quick. The pacing felt off to me. Still love her books and will continue to grab one anytime one comes out.
What happens when you think your husband committed suicide and then you find out it was murder? Do you investigate on your own, or do you leave it to the police? Well, Anna decides to find out what happened to her husband on her own by moving into this art studio in order to understand his double life. Cass--the apartment manager--has a lot of baggage of her own. After her failed (not) marriage and eviction, she is drawn into this mystery against her will. Who killed Henry?
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for this ARC! This one was juicy! I usually don’t like dual perspectives like this book had but it did a great job of weaving the two storylines and characters together, especially as the story went on. I loved all of the characters and appreciated the found family feel mixed in a thriller, which you don’t see often. Highly recommend this one!
Cass was living a life of luxury with her long-time (“anti marriage”) boyfriend Reid until she found him in the arms of a 20-something cocktail waitress and lost everything. She went from high society to a handyman living in a rundown motel-turned-apartment complex called The Sycamores in exchange for a few bucks and free rent. Anna’s husband Henry was using one of the apartments at The Sycamores as his art studio after losing his teaching job and spent more time there than he did at their home. When Henry turns up dead from an apparent suicide, Anna puts their home on the market and plans to travel the world as they planned as soon as it sells. She moves into his apartment because she can’t stand to be in their house and to get into his head about what happened that led to the end of his life. There’s a lot going on at the Sycamores outside of the behind the scenes drama in these two women’s lives and it’s a wild ride.
Wow. This was so good. I’m calling it now - this will be one of
THE thrillers of 2024. The whole story was good. I loved the characters and the storylines. When the twist came, I was SHOCKED. I literally gasped and my jaw dropped. I didn’t see it coming and I never once suspected the bad guy but once it was revealed it made perfect sense. 1000/10. Highly recommend!
