This was a good thriller that was way too slow at parts but interesting enough to want to find out what was going to happen. I enjoyed the character Cass. She is the epitome of a classic no fucks given thriller heroine.
Cass has found herself in a rough place. She was dumped by her asshole boyfriend and went from riches to rags. She's a caretaker at The Sycamores, a wrong side of town motel turned apartment complex. There's quite a cast of characters at this place.😄
When Anna's husband, who rented space at The Sycamores, turns up dead, she moves in to comb through his life and find out what happened to him. As Anna meets Cass and the other tenants, she starts to suspect Henry's death is not what it seems, but something entirely more sinister.
This is definitely not in my top favorite thrillers of the year, but it was entirely readable and entertaining enough.

I absolutely loved reading this book. It’s not too far fetched, I could picture the hotel/apartments perfectly, I actually wanted to move right in once I got to know the people living there and the shenanigans of the neighborhood. The growth of the characters along with the finality of their sub plots is as such a fun ride. You get to know everyone, feel for everyone, root for everyone, be mad at everyone, and I enjoyed every part of it. This is an author I seriously enjoy.

Dinged the book a smidge because I found parts of the ending predictable. However, it was still enjoyable, mostly due to the atmosphere. Glass was mindful and authentic to creating a setting and a community that was deeply believable.
tried starting twice, just couldnt get into it. jumping back and forth between the two females was confusing me. might try again later when i am not distracted and can really focus while listening. Or try reading it instead of audiobook
