I can't wait to read this with my kids. I really think they would enjoy it. Listening to the audio book was very interesting. What fun adventures come to children's dreams.
It was great to revisit a classic I only know from the Disney movie. This audio version in particular has a full cast and short pieces of classical music in between chapters that I appreciated and helped bring to life the story. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook right before going to sleep and submerging myself with Alice into her crazy and magical wonderland.
I'm a huge Wonderland fan and tried to read Lewis Carroll's Alice books when I was younger but didn't really understand them. I was raised on the Disney film and anything that didn't cohere strictly to the Disney version, I just had no time for at 7 years old. I always try to read some classics every now and then and so I decided to return to Wonderland 15 years later to really see what the story was all about.
This book was a delight! Full of nonsense, but witty nonsense nonetheless! I was so enamored by the world Carroll created, how backwards everything was and about Alice's observations about what was happening to her. She's not the brightest bulb but there's still so much humor and insight that she brings to her commentary on her adventures. I definitely tried to overthink the parts that WERE utter nonsense (the trial scene at the end, for instance) but the joy in this book lies in giving in to the absurd. Because most likely, you can rely on Alice to let you know if this is really something to be concerned over or not. She's a great person to lead you into Wonderland because she's just like the reader: we're learning as we're reading, just like she is as she's going along, what this new world is like and how to respond to it. Let Alice be your guide!
I can't wait to explore Looking-Glass Land with Through the Looking Glass next!

Lily and I enjoyed the wonderful imagery and adventures of Alice! The language is quite old-fashioned and tricky for a young kiddo to understand (honestly I struggled at times), but she rarely asked for clarification, so she seemed to understand enough.
