Yeh great for bedtime reading to my four year old... cool illustrations for that too
It was alright.
The writing was clear and concise, there's a dream like feeling to the world, but the book doesn't have much of an impact or punch to it. I like the weird whimsy it has, and the charming characters, and the way it feels like a dream. (Which makes sense due to the end) I enjoyed it, and it was a lovely read. But well, it wasn't anything fantastic. I liked it, but it was just.. an easy read? I guess? But, I love the edition I have, my friend gave it to me for my birthday, and the illustrations are so charming! This book would be the perfect bed time story for a child, and I think kids would enjoy it very much.

It took me 25 years to get around to reading this book, but I'm glad I took the time to do so (on Project Gutenberg's website).
I know I read this several years ago but the podcast Novel Pairings is doing classic kid lit for the winter months so I decided to listen to this book for a refresher. The good news is that Jim Dale narrates it (he narrates the Harry Potter audio books). I'm not totally sure why I gave it 5 stars but maybe it reads better. The story is just okay for me. I'm from a family of engineers so I like logical thinking and this book is everything illogical.
I didn't think the characters were very well-developed and missed a lot of the characters that were added later in the cartoon/movie productions. I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, so this fell a little bit short for me. Still, an enjoyable and quick read.
Loved the illustrations, so eerie, perfect for Carroll's story.
I will think twice before sharing my crazy dreams with others. While not my favorite classic children's story, I did love how magical our themed book club dinner was. There is a lot one can do to create an Wonderland setting. My favorite comment of the night came from my niece, who joined me as a guest at book club this month. Her point was that this book really is told from a child's point-of-view. I also loved hearing how this book came to be. It was told as smaller stories by a family friend to some young girls and they asked him to please write it all down.

Kinda confusing. Would probably make more sense if I was a child.
