I usually don’t mind insta-love romances but this just felt forced and cringey. Alice and Michael’s relationship was 100% based on super cheesy role-play and that was the end of it. They met and got married within 2 weeks. Zero emotional connection. Alice acted like she was a star struck love sick preteen and Michael gave creepy possessive asshole vibes. I did like the concept so I’ll give it 2 stars.

I love baking shows and Christmas related baking shows even more so when I saw that the book was about that and the main characters would be the judge and contestant who had an age gap, I was like: "Sign me up!"

Then I started reading and the instalove shocked me, I expected a little more build up and tension even t ough I know these were 3 shorts novellas the author could have omit ed one spicy scene to give the story and characters a bit more substances. I couldn't relate to either character, everything felt rushed and some parts were even a little cringey and cheesy but I did still like the holiday setting of it.

I feel like this had a lot of potential because it was well written but personally, I need some character growth and development with my spice.

Baby Cakes is a series of three holiday novellas that are perfect for the season! It’s funny, sweet, sexy and full of holiday magic. Michael and Alice are just the cutest together and their chemistry is sizzling. I was swooning and giggling throughout the whole story. You should definitely go read!

Baby Cakes by S.J. Tilly is a series of three holiday novellas but it reads as one story. It’s a cute and spicy romance centered around Christmas and New Year’s edition baking show specials.

So. I’m not saying that I read this solely based on the cover, but ….. well ….. anyway, I picked this up because of the cover. I do like S. J. Tilly’s writing too, so it wasn’t *only* based on the cover photo.

I think this one will be appreciated the most by anyone with a huge celebrity crush or is a big fan of GBBO. I can’t relate to either so it just felt like a really rushed insta-love story to me. I found it a little cringey and cheesy in parts, but I did still like the holiday setting of it. The holiday puns are both a bit eye roll inducing but also somehow festive.

This is a collection of three novellas in one book.

We follow Alice, a contestant in a baking competition, and Michael, a judge in the same competition. While the young woman was already attracted to the charming silver fox through his media appearances, the judge falls in love with Alice at first sight.

The story was nice, I read it relatively quickly and enjoyed it, but I had a bit of a problem with the short chapters. I sometimes lost the flow of reading.

I’m still looking for S. J. Tilly’s book that will make me go completely bonkers, and I have faith that I’ll find it.
