I didn't care for the abrupt transition from the characters reaccounting to the massive lore dump in this book. Also the information was too advanced for the limited scientific analysis of the time and I could no longer suspend my disbelief to enjoy the story written.

The tragic tale of
Spoilera group of beings lost in time who wake up as the prisoners of horrifying primitive aliens. They escape only to find their city has fallen due to climate change. They desperately flee to the last bastion of their civilization only to be killed by the rogue artificial intelligence that destroyed the last of their species.

Lovecraft is Gothic horror in every step of the way. His prose stirs a darkness that is unnatural. While I enjoyed Mountains of Madness, Case of Charles Dexter Ward immensely for their setting, flow and plot, the Dream Cycle stories didn't hold much sway over me.

A big beautiful illustrated version of one of Lovecraft’s best. Only the first half though. It’s split up into two volumes.

Cosmically horrific. Old writing and tedious at times, but the ideas are iconic very much for a reason.
