Going in, I didn’t know much at all about Frieda Kahlo’s work or personal life. I enjoyed learning more about her vivacious and bold way of life, as well as her struggles. However the repetition of the same facts and phrases over and over was tiresome. I think if the book was organized a little more succinctly and length cut down considerably it would have been more enjoyable and impactful.
(Audiobook). 1.5 stars, because I only give 1 star to books I don’t finish, and I did finish this one.
This book was so annoying. Agree with many reviewers on here that it reads like a high school English or art history paper. So much repetition, and weird comparisons of the artist to the book’s author. Also Frida was “strong” for not leaving her husband but also “strong” for leaving him and also “strong” for coming back to him? And every person who wears flowers in their hair is copying Frida? And also Frida would like taking selfies? Just the weirdest book.
If anyone wants to read a better book on how to learn life lessons from complicated historical figures, I’d recommend Why Fish Don’t Exist by Lulu Miller.

A great little book if you want to learn more about the amazing life of Frida Kahlo. I thought I knew a fair bit about Frida but the author definitely did a great job researching her subject and I enjoyed how she highlights the parts of Frida's life that are worth emulating. Highlights for me included, learning to love yourself just as you are, going after your dreams in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, etc. It was also really interesting to learn that Frida accomplished so much while living with chronic pain, debilitating infertility and later in life the amputation of part of her leg. Great on audio but this is a book I'd love to own and keep on my forever shelf. Highly recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for providing me with this audiobook.
While I certainly learned (or was helped to remember) a few things about Frida Kahlo's life, I thought it would be more detailed. I felt that it skimmed over details and went for the main parts of her life that are more common knowledge. I also found that it was very repetitive.
After this audiobook, I find myself wanting to go visit her hometown and in visiting a museum with her art or in honor of her life.

Interested in Frida but wouldn’t recommend this. Very repetitive, I had to drag myself to finish it. However it was informative and there were some good lil life lessons
There are too many repetitive facts about Frida and suppositions. The “advice” is not good.
I went in thinking this would be a biography, it’s not. It’s mostly the well known stuff about Frida with some connection to modern day self help. It’s just ok. A little too redundant for me.
3.5/5 a good overview of Frida’s life. I can tell the author is passionate and did her research for this book. However, I think the self help portion detracts from the book over all. I also found the writing to be repetitive in places.
Still enjoyed it an would recommend to anyone looking to get a understanding of Frida Kahlo.
