I write these words in steel, for anything not set in metal cannot be trusted.

4.5/5
Tempted to give this one a full 5 on the re-read, because it really is that good, but then it wouldn't be fair to the other two books in the trilogy, because they far outshine this middle installment. Some subplots dragged for a bit too long, mostly the parts involving Vin and her inner monologue. And that of her dealings with Zane. Other than that, some incredible writing, in parts even better than the first.

The first 3/4ths was a solid 2-3 but the last quarter was like 12 stars out of 5. Super slow paced but worth it.

Fantastic book! There are so many aspects of this book that caused me to think. While I read I wrote down my theories so I could keep track of them! You can tell a book is good when it makes you laugh. You can tell a book is amazing when it makes you laugh and cry. The Well of Ascension caused me to laugh and cry. This is truly an awesome series full of suspense action and a bit of romance! I can't wait to read the next book!

Not as good as the first book, but still very good. There's a lot of political scheming, which was interesting but it made the book a bit slow at some points where I would have liked to see more action. Overall there was just a bit too much drama which I didn't expect. But, the last part of the book really made up for this with its revelations and action! And, like in the first book, I love all the characters.
