Lover Avenged

J.R. Ward

4.14 AVERAGE

This was probably my least favorite of all the BDB series. It was still good and worth reading, but it did not captivate me the way the previous ones did.

I was really hesitant to read Rehv’s story because I wasn’t a huge fan of him previously. However, Ward surprised me and I ended up greatly enjoying this story. There is something remarkable when you have a character you don’t like turn into a character you enjoy greatly.

I loved this series, but I'm not sure this new format works for me at all.

Great book!

I really enjoyed getting more info on Rehv. :)

I think Ms. Ward has outdone herself with this one, it may very well be my favorite so far!! I love the very intricate world that she has created. I really enjoyed learning about Rehvenge, and watching the developments with Ehlena. You know I always root for the under dog!! But there were so many other story lines going on that really made the book for me. I loved seeing a story about Wrath and Beth again, sort of takes you back to the beginning. Also interested to see what happens with Payne from here. I am loving the return of Tohr and his interaction with Lash. Can't wait to read Tohr's book!!! And, I think she did a wonderful job of setting up the next book about John Matthew, and the ending with Xhex!!! Looking forward to his story next!!! Having had the extreme honor of meeting Ms. Ward earlier this year has really enhanced my reading of these books. Her crazy, in your face personality shines through in so many of the characters. It just makes the books that much better for me!!!

I think this might possibly be my second favorite in the series so far. I found this more emotional than the others, probably because I felt very connected to some of the key characters. I didn't so much connect with Ehlena as I did with Xhex and Rehv, though. It's been a recurring theme that I find the leading females to be a bit anonymous. The only ones I feel like I have a 100% clear picture of is Bella, Marissa and the spunky edge of Jane. And Xhex, obviously. The others kind of blend together for me a little bit personality wise...

Xhex intrigues me to no end, and I'm very excited to start reading her and John's book. I found the parts between those two completely heartbreaking in this book. I've been shipping those two since John first laid eyes on her, and I'm so ready for their happy ending... Plus that means I'll get to see some more of Qhuinn and Blay! Very excited for Lover at Last!

Sometimes these books drag a bit, and I always find myself losing some interest when it comes to the lesser chapters. Throwing Lash into the mix stirs things up a bit, but I still feel like those parts very rarely add anything interesting to the story. I personally kinda think the vamp brothers deserve a better and badder enemy. One I don't necessarily have to be inside the head of...

I was dreading reading this one in my reread of the series, because I've never been a big Rehvenge fan. But, let me tell you all, that man is awesome (weird sympath forced relationship aside), he's so funny! Ehlena and him didn't feel at all like insta love, there were conversations! And jokes! I loved it.
