So where do I start...
Lets begin with the plot. All books have the same background flow. Male who is powerful and skillful, who wants to do good, but has a dark past. Female of worth who comes along and helps the male, but she also has her flaws, and the male helps her too.
You would think the story would get repetitive right?
Think again.
Every single book has a different story. It never get's repetitive, nor boring. In fact this book has like what? 500-600 pages? I ate them all in no time. The flow of the story is ever moving along. And the twists and turns are out of the mind of a damn genius.
In contrast with Phury's book, this book was a whole lot better, and I think we owe it all to the Reverend. His character had the 3 D's, dark, deadly... damaged. He can kill without mercy, and laugh while doing it. He is the kind of guy that if you see in a bar you would be immediately attracted to, but also fear. Hes the kind of male that would take your soul and sale it to the highest biter.
But in the darkness, there is always light.
He also has his good side. He does horrible things, but they come with a reason. Not always, but most of the time anyways.
Ehlena is the opposite of Rhevenge. She is the care giver, the nurse, the I-would- give-you-my-hand-if-I-only-could kind of girl. But hell she can also handle a gun. And ain't that sweet.
Opposites attract each other, and so not be surprised that these two will meet eventually, but will they end up together? He's a Drug Lord, she's a nurse, what are the odds?
Other than their story we have background story, which are ALWAYS fun. We get to see more of my lover, the blind king, Wrath, and his lovely Shellan Beth. We get to see Thor going to depression and back. JM slowly dying inside.
You see this books may be about vampires, war, romance. But in the core of the book is mostly about human emotions, sacrifice, love, catastrophe, and how to surpass adversity. Only that J.R. Ward makes it more fun by mixing it up with the supernatural, and giving us some of the finest eye candy I could ever find.

I'd say this was my second favourite book of the series after Dark Lover. Not because I liked Ehlena and Rhevenge more than any other characters but it had a lot of plot development in this one and it wasn't just focused on the more carnal side of things (although there was a lot of that, too). John Matthew's story with Xhex is next and although they're not my favourite storyline I'm still looking forward to reading the next book.
I will be honest, I was not looking forward to reading this book but I am doing the chronological thing and this was next in line. I've never really like Rehvenge. I actively hated him for the first few books and had only recently moved up to a grudging tolerance. This book changed everything as far as I am concerned. SO many layers. I enjoy how even though the books focus on one character, you do see development among other characters at the same time. Tohr.. JM.. Xhex.. Wrath.. my god. Despite my misgivings, this is probably one of my favorite books so far. I can't wait to start the next one.

Holy smokes there was so much going on in this book!!
Lash has fully embraced his inner sociopath as the leader of the lessers. This dude is freakin crazy!!
Rehvenge was an absolute joy to read about. I dug his character already so this was just icing on the cake. JRW let us know more about what it us to be a sympath and it was like reading a horror story. And how insane was the Princess (his half-sister)? Ehlena annoyed me a bit with her judgmental attitude and it peeved me because I really liked her. But thankfully, I wasn't annoyed for long. She really redeemed herself and won back my favour.
It was absolutely awesome to get a chance to see more of Wrath and Beth through Wrath's POV. He's still my number one homie. Don't tell Z. I love them in different ways. Wrath was my first. You just don't forget your first. But what Wrath was and is dealing with was heart rending. I felt so bad for him.By going permanently blind, he's now officially the Blind King. No more fighting. And you know one of the hottest things to read was when Wrath geared up!!
Oh boy. John and Xhex. What a train wreck. She did my boy so wrong!! I am so mad at her. And now she's missing.Lash took her when the Brotherhood was rescuing Rehvenge. So we can only imagine the torture she's going through because Lash was pissed that she killed the sympath princess who he saw as his (pet that is).
This series is so addictive. Even with the addition of new characters (I.e. Lassiter) and how off the wall and unrealistic some of the plot is, I just love it!!
And who doesn't laugh their ass off at the banter between Lassiter, Tohrment, Vishous and Rhage???? These men are hilarious. Thank you JRW for the kickass suspense, swoons alpha romance, pseudo sexy times, and the laughs!!

Lover Avenged is the book focussing on Rehvenge; drug dealer, pimp, and sympath. His love interest is Ehlena, a former member of the vampire aristocracy, whose family fell from grace and now takes care of her mentally ill father.
Lover Avenged has all of the elements that make a successful Black Dagger Brotherhood book, but in the end it didn't make me feel as much as the other books have done. I felt there was too much time spent on irrelevant points of view, and the book was unnecessarily long. I really liked Rehvenge and Ehlena together, and I wish they got to spend more time with each other than was shown in the book.

Wow. I loved this book. It took awhile for me to get into it at first for some reason but after about 50 pages, I was sucked in as usual and didn't want it to end. I was never much of a Rev fan from the previous books so I was a bit anxious about an entire book focused on him. But, I am now a HUGE fan of Rev and enjoyed every moment of this novel. One of the things that I loved about this book is that it felt that it included a lot more about ALL the characters, not just the main character of the book. I really enjoyed the interaction among the Brotherhood. And now I'm completely invested in the John Matthew & Xhex story and can't wait for the next book!
