It was fine, but it genuinely rubbed me the wrong way that it was called 'The Hangman's Daughter' when it was barely about her. She was involved with solving the mystery but we spent most of the time in the perspective of that hangman or the handsome doctor-suitor. (The focus on those two characters isn't inherently an issue; it's that the title and back blurb made it seem like this would not be the case)
