I read the book before watching the series, so my review isn’t affected by comparing the show to the book. With that being said… I wasn’t a major fan of the writing style here. Despite this being a romance novel, I couldn’t really FEEL the chemistry between Queen Charlotte & King George. I didn’t get the usual giggles or warm heart that I usually do with couples I read about, so I was a bit disappointed in that sense. Towards the end really turned things around for me and made it a beautiful story, but the first half of the book was ‘meh’ for me.

I can admit and say that the show does a MUCH BETTER job of properly showcasing this story, but if I had to go back and choose, I would’ve just watched the show and skipped the book. The book is a carbon copy of the show with no major changes (at some points it feels as if the book & the script are the exact same thing). Would’ve given this book 2 stars, but the ending made me change my mind and give it 3. It was not a terrible book, but it also wasn’t the best book — just nothing to go crazy over.

Switches perspectives each chapter, not like the other Bridgerton books. Definitely telling and now SHOWING the story which I just can’t do.

I think watching the show ruined the experience of the book for me but I can tell that even if I read the book first, I’d still prefer the show.

This was such a cute story, really added a lot to the show. It’s nice to see that they went in different directions as to what they explored further in the show and what they pulled from the book.

i saw you, and i met you, and i spoke with you. i am enchanted. i can barely breathe for wanting to kiss you again.

lottie & farmer george lived happily ever after, sane and normal, in their buckingham house, with brimsley & reynolds five steps behind them, who are also very much alive, well, and happy <3

watching this before reading it made it a much better experience for me because i loved that i could hear them and knowing what their expressions were going to be. so, i definitely recommend watching it before reading !

charlotte- venus,
