Blaine might be a pain, but he's also the best evil AI character I've encountered. I loved seeing Roland getting to love his ka-tet more and more, and his struggle with fatherly obligation to Jake was truly touching. He's still hard as nails, but he's got that much more depth to him now than he did in the first book.
