This review is only for 'My Darling Echo' by Gayle Wilson.

I wonder, does Ms. Wilson only writes beta heroes? I've only read one other book by her, [b:Anne's Perfect Husband|889643|Anne's Perfect Husband (Sinclair Bride, #2)|Gayle Wilson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1312839917l/889643._SY75_.jpg|874892] and didn't like it that much, mainly due to the hero's character (another beta but verging on being weak-willed as he has the tendency to let things happen instead of being proactive). The hero in this book, Hunt is another beta hero, but without the weak-willed element to his character. He was blinded during the war and instead of being bitter, he tried to live his life in the best way that he could. He proposed a marriage of convenience to Bella, who had been employed by him for the past 2 years as his secretary and who also happened to be the widow of an ex-schoolmate. Of course, he was already in love with her (or with her voice) when he made the proposal. He was afraid of making a fool of himself, so he didn't reveal his true feeling to Bella and that's the conflict of this story. A very poignant scene between Bella's son, Kit and Hunt. I second another reviewer. This was an "exceptionally beautiful story". I think Ms Wilson has redeemed herself in my eyes and I might just give her other books a shot.

LOVED "My Darling Echo" as one of the books in this anthology. The other two were very good.
