I thought it really sketch that one of the main boys was throwing around a form of the r-slur while a main plot point was the main character having a learning disability??

Also the ONLY (literally single character who had dialogue) non white character was demonized and made into a prejudiced douche.

POV: You’re in love with Fitzy and Summer at the same exact time.

I thought this book was so so cute. I absolutely adore summer I think she’s the cutest thing EVER. I really appreciated seeing her struggle with her ADHD and made me feel better about my own. Fitzy is the sweetest man and so hot, like hello???

My brain goes caveman on me.
Summer scream.
Summer danger.
Save summer.

I’m in love with this man.
My TW/CW:
  • Sexual Assault:
a side character has an attempted sexual assault, summer stops it before anything too serious happens
  • Sexual Harassment:
Summer is sexually harassed by her professor
  • Ableism:
Summer is treated badly by her academic advisor for her ADHD, and she has some self deprecating internal dialogue but she grows and learns to accept herself ♡

At first, I was being a total Fitz and taking Summer at surface level - so much so that I considered stoping at about 10%. Then I realized that was unfair, so I gave it a few more chapters and ended up really enjoying Summer as the MFC. Her struggles with ADHD were handled really well and I appreciated the attempt to show her adaptation to alternate learning methods.

However, while I ended up enjoying probably the first 80%, the last 20% just tanked - everything moved at light speed and it all got wrapped up with a pretty bow much too quickly.

The relationship was cute, but the ableism? The white woman feminism? Those weren’t cute. It made the book quite unbearable at times, to be honest.

(Reread: still 100% agree with all of the above. wanted to try a refresh though because that audiobook clip was making its rounds again)
