This was exactly what I had hoped it would be; a solid MC story. I liked that the club was a better side of the law, as some of the other MC books that I have read the club is on the other side of the law. That, in itself, made the story refreshing. I liked the characters and I loved Nix's dirty mouth. I liked the other drama that was going on and enjoyed getting to know everyone. The book also made me really excited for the next one and Ms. Savage set up the continuation of the story line very nicely.

Phoenix Knight, president of the Knight's Rebel MC. He has worked hard to get the club to the place where it is now. He has the respect and love from his family and lives his life the way he wants to. Until his bitch of an ex throws him into meeting with their son's teacher. Kadence Turner, the school teacher who has been through the ringer and back. She is just learning to live her life the way she wants after tragedy took control of her life three years prior. These two are like oil and water and instantly sparks are flying. Those sparks are not always of the sexual nature and often of the more of the fighting in nature. The banter and back and forth made me laugh and Nix and Kadence had great chemistry. She pushes his buttons and he pushes back harder.

I liked that it was not a case of insta-love and that we got to see both sides of the story. I loved Nix's rough-around-the-edges attitude, but he also was a family man, level headed (for the most part) and thoughtful. Kadence understandably had issues, but at times she did get a bit annoying and I wanted to yell at her to get over it. But all-in-all a really great first novel and a definite series that I intend to follow.

I don't know why it's taken me so long to read this author, but I will definitely be reading more from her!

▪︎ The main characters are two dimensional, not much to them. Their pasts are laid out open during the initial chapters so there's nothing to anticipate there.
▪︎ Nix fared much better at capturing my attention unlike Kadence who had nothing going on for her. She's just a teacher who wears pencil skirts & jeans on weekends, the figure-hugging piece of fabric never fails at making Nix lose his mind. Of course.
▪︎ Nix isn't an anti-hero. He's possessive, sure but also a considerate, gentlemanly, good guy H.
▪︎ The novel's well-written but it lacks emotions. Nix is shown to be an alpha who doesn't take no for an answer, Kadence dances between complying with him or making him tick, the biker gang are just a support system to babysit the FML.
▪︎ I pick single dad romances to devour all the heartfelt moments between the kids and the lead's new- found love interest as they bond over their dad's grumpiness/ biological mother's absence (or bitchiness, depending on the books that you pick). Unfortunately though, there's little to no interaction between Kadence & Nix's son, Z.

It got better towards the end, the beginning felt like they were disagreeing and then he just fucked her to submission idk but after the 65% mark I felt better about their bond
