The story seems watered down and tailored for a young adult audience. Thankfully, it's a quick read, but it does feel a bit drawn out. Overall, I'd give it 3 stars.

Autumn Bleeds into Winter
By: Jeff Strand
Narrated by: Joe Hempel
My first Jeff Strand book, and I am hooked! This coming-of-age story features Curtis, who lives in Alaska and witnessed the abduction of his best friend. He is able to identify the kidnapper, but without evidence, there is no arrest. Now after some time and being unable to come to terms with this, he has decided to take on the serial killer himself. Interesting plot, but what I really loved about this story is the fact that Curtis is an unpopular kid, finds his first girlfriend and with the help of a variety of unlikely kids he finds his way. The mind games are fascinating and add to the building suspense. It is exciting and edgy and a thrilling listen.
Joe Hempel is incredible as he brings this story to life. From young adult to freaky psychopath, we have girls and boys, and eerie danger brought out in his narration. He is the perfect cast for this and made for an amazing listen.

I can't believe I'm typing this but - the book needed to be longer. This book is a series of events that I really would have cared about if I'd been given time and reason to actually care about the characters. Instead, we have a series of confusing, unrealistic events. I beleive author was going for an "It" -like- feeling of it young teens from the 70s/80s saving the neighborhood against all odds (and adults) but it came off as the creative writing assignment of the main character, Curtis. Not a boring read, but not nearly as good as it could have been.
Graphic: Injury/Injury detail, Gore, Blood, Death, Violence, Child death, and Murder
Moderate: Fatphobia, Cursing, Torture, Confinement, Kidnapping, and Gun violence
Minor: Bullying, Vomit, Death of parent, Alcohol, Cancer, and Animal cruelty

Engaging. Dark teen(s) vs the bad guy(s). Tiny bit of sarcasm from the MC. Quick. Page turner, some gory details.

First from this author and will not be the last
Very well written quick read with interesting characters and a swift developing plot. I just love kids/teens versus evil! Looking forward to my next Jeff Strand. Think I will have to buy physical copies for my bookshelves cause I would definitely reread.

“Oh dear!”
Woahwooooo! I just finished this baby up, God did I have a great experience reading this, my second, Jeff Strand book to date. (The first was Haunted Forest Tour) At this point, I’m convinced that JS is a literary savant, and writes everything exactly the way I want to hear it. It’s that good. I’m going to buy and read everything he writes until I die, and it’s gonna be awesome, I have no doubt about that. I have more Jeff Strand in my TBR, and they are going straight to the top of the pile. Everybody listen to me, this story, it just rules. Buy it, or borrow it, read it, and try to tell me I’m wrong. You’re absolutely going to love it as much as I did/do, I’m not even sweating it. Trust me on this.
