I love John Connolly, and the Charlie Parker series is one of my favorites. This installment went too far off the reservation for me with the biblical/satanic/supernatural stuff. Ultimately, I was not convinced and just mentally checked out. I will move directly on to the next book just to prove I still love Mr. Connolly!

As usual: a well written thriller, absolutely captivating from start to finish, great characters... The direction the series is taking with its protagonist is interesting and, in some ways, quite creative for the genre. But what I really like the most is the relationship between Parker, Angel and Louis. And Rachel is great too, of course, and I do hope we see more of her in future books.

A strange book. I've really enjoyed the Charlie Parker books so far, at least partly because of the weird, underlying elements of fantasy which, I guess, I wasn't sure were actually "real" within the world of the book, or indicative of Parker's state of mind. Are there demons all around him, or is Parker delving deeper and deeper into paranoid psychosis as the series progresses. The Black Angel finally spells this out explicitly for the audience, with a lot of flashbacks to medieval times and a crash-course in the apocrypha and Christian theology. I'm not sure whether I needed/wanted this to happen, and I guess this means the series will become even less noir-ish and more rooted in fantasy.

A little disappointed in this Charlie Parker outing because at times it felt like I was reading a textbook on relics and the occult. What began as a simple missing girl case descended into total supernatural madness (though I suppose it is also open to interpretation that the effects and visions are mere delusions).

Sepupu Louis, bernama Alice menghilang dari jalanan New York. Tapi Malaikat Hitam bukanlah legenda. Ia sungguhan. Ia hidup. Ia bermimpi. Dan misteri keberadaannya mungkin menyimpan rahasia tentang asal usul Parker.
Pada akhirnya Karena situasi makin berbahaya, Rachel & bayinya memilih tinggal Bersama orang tuanya. Sedih deh, disaat akhirnya ada peluang Parker bias mendapat sedikit kebahagiaan namun tetap saja, dia memilih profesi yg berbahaya hingga bahaya itu mengintai org2 yg dia cintai.
