slow-paced

The narration when it would switch from the male to female narrator felt off... they portrayed the characters differently and I couldn't get over that. I couldn't stay focused on the book so I feel like I missed information (or just got bored) but the parts that pulled me back in just made me confused.
Ending was good.
The FMC is taking back control with her chaos, so that made me feel better.

Same icks as with the first book in the series but the main twist and the way it played out doesn’t deserve less than 4 ⭐️s

mmmmm still not a big fan of the mmc. maybe, just maybe, the next book has some redeeming points for him, bc wow.
i’m liking the story and i’m enjoying plot twists and changes. this book ends on a cliffhanger and i am just waiting on the edge of my seat for book 3 to be ready on libby (hehe). i dove straight into book 2 after book 1, so writing the first book’s review was a little tricky with trying to remember where book 1 ended and book 2 started. big cliffhanger in that one too.
rooting for the fmc and i’m very interested in how the story ends in the last book. stay tuned for that!!!
one of the things i wish was better done was pacing. the first two books of the series takes place in a matter of 2-3 months, and i would’ve liked a longer timeframe.

I tried. I really tried. I rated the first book 2.5 stars because, in 24 hrs, nothing much happened until the last 4-5 hrs. It was a lot of Tessa rebelling against the bond and Theon's abuse because she won't just accept the bond.

And this book wasn't much different. I listened for 8.5 hrs before I finally could not take anymore. There was a bit of a big reveal, but when Tessa asked for more info, the character wouldn't give anymore. Feels like this is the author's MO. A whole lot of abuse from Theon, Tessa fighting back, a reveal with the barest of information followed by a whole lot more abuse before another good tidbit.

I'm so disappointed and so done.

Better than the first - more plot and less filler. But also… it really reads like a weird dream which makes me think the author at this point had no clue where the story was going - or, she knew where she wanted to go but not how to get there. So I enjoyed it but at the same time it’s still wildly fkd? Idk.
