I am genuinely in awe of this series. I just stared at the wall for 20 minutes. I donโ€™t know how Melissa created a world that is so complex yet so easily digestible while also writing extremely flawed characters that you canโ€™t help but root for. The ending was literally everything I have been waiting for since the beginning of book 1, Tessa taking back the power and becoming the badass she always was.
I feel like these characters and this story has already started altering my brain chemistry. I want all of them to get their own individual revenge for the shit theyโ€™ve been put through and also get their happy endings they all deserve (there is no Tessa and Theon without Luka and I will not be accepting any other ending for this series)
I could read about these characters forever and I am so excited to read book 3. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

The first book walked so this could run. Iโ€™m so excited for book 3 and have been loving this series. The mystery of the world building and identity of so many characters has been so fun but an added level of intrigue is in the complicated relationships between all the characters. I love that we are unlocking more and more characters point of views and getting a better understanding behind their actions. This is a god tier series for me!

I loved this book, I couldn't put it down. I literally have to work this evening and night now because I read during the day, a really mature thing to do, thanks homeoffice.

One major annoying thing I have to warn others about: there is a crossover with the authors other series and I think it slightly spoilers that series. I am planning on reading it next and now I know multiple characters and relationship outcomes. I wish there was a warning about that in the blurb, would have read the books in a different order.

I love the multiple POVs in the book. The switches feel flawless and I was never annoyed that it switched. I actually preferred Theons POV over Tessas.

I still don't like Tessa. I didn't get the character growth I was needing. She has been constantly abused and lied to. But her defiance about absolutely everything didn't work for me. I was yelling at my kindle at points for her to let him speak.

Theons flaws are so exquisite. I didn't know I needed a MMC who was really flawed. Normally I read books with alphaholes, dominant, overprotective, a sad backstory and morally grey but they make few mistakes if at all. Theon is that plus he keeps making mistakes and more mistakes. He tries and fails. No idea how he can redeem himself.

Spoilers ahead

Tessas changes in the last 10-15% of the book feel too drastically. I just don't buy it. We had a lot of chapters from her POV and nothing really hinted at the change. As a reader I was as blindsided as Theon.

Everyone keeps secrets from everyone and like Tessa it gets on my nerves. Some communication would do them some good. Maybe couples therapy?
I don't even get why they kept some secrets. Like what Tessa endured growing up. Obviously hard to talk about but Theon could have helped her with the lessons or even find a different teacher from the start. Ffs the cellar could have been avoided.
Each side expects trust without being willing to do it first. They are all so deliciously flawed.

I just can't get over how utterly flawed absolutely everyone is. I need more books like this and hate that I have to wait half a year for book 3. But the ending of book 2 was good. Not an enraging cliffhanger that leaves a bad taste but a good ending that makes me want more.

Now we talking. Iโ€™m already terrified for how ruined Iโ€™m going to be at the end of this series. Welp.
