It got better. Marginally.
My main problem with this series so far is that no one learns anything. It's always the same behavior, while they really should know better by now. You've seen the result of your behavior and it's not to your liking - instead of doubling down on previous behavior, maybe make a fucking change. Everyone infuriates me. Also no one ever explains stuff on the spot - sometimes, it truly is impossible to do so because of a tight situation they find themselves in, but come on. You keep saying 'I'll explain later" and we all know it's a ploy so you never have to explain. This especially goes for Theon. He has all the facts and does all the research and makes the plans but he can never be bothered to share them with anyone? Even Aelin was better than this, come the fuck on. You've seen the problems it causes. Do fucking better, especially considering he's supposed to be smart.
Anyway! I like Axel. I like Luka. I like that they got POVs in this book and I don't hate them nearly as much as Tessa and Theon who are at this point just fucking stubborn for the sake of it. There's an interesting expansion on the world going on, I won't deny that and it's that that keeps me going. That, and the fact I'm listening to these books. If I had eyeball read them I'd have given up after the first book, because I'm not going to set apart dedicated time for these books. But listening while I'm doing other things is fine.
Let's see if they finally learn in book 3. I highly doubt it. Theon should just fuck off and Luka should be less honorable.

I'm done with this. It took me a whole week to finish this book, and I almost gave up at least 3 times.
The first book held plenty of promises, an interesting world, and the concept of the "Sources" and the highly hierarchical society that was depicted had me intrigued. Intrigued enough to pick up book 2, despite some lengthy chapters and a decidedly opaque plot. I thought, surely book 2 will deliver some answers? Surely the characters will develop, their relationships will evolve - something is bound to happen to make the story exciting? I know everyone keeps saying the end of book 2 is fantastic but I just don't see it. I was BORED out of my mind for 600 pages - 600!! I just checked. Unacceptable. And the remaining 60 pages at the end barely graze the surface of what the fuck is happening. The denouement is anything but, and does not make up for the utter nothing that is the rest of the book.
Storm of Secrets and Sorrow is 600 pages of convoluted conjectures, where everybody seems to know something, but nobody shares the information on page. It's a constant back and forth with Tessa saying "I'm fine" every other line, and Theon grabbing her face and telling her she belongs to him.
I'm mad at myself for pushing myself to finish this book, and I am absolutely not picking up the sequel because I don't care anymore. Tessa can kill everyone, Theon can go to sleep and not wake up, I don't give a crap.
