This book had me taking notes like I was in school again, I swear. I don’t think I’ve ever been so confused about who I’m rooting for. You’d think that’d be a bad thing but I’m just excited to see where book three takes us. This was even better than the first book. Amazing!!

This series is mind blowing, and even more mind blowing on a second read. Melissa has a way of dropping hints, foreshadowing and easter eggs that you find will baffle you on a reread. I don’t understand how her mind works, but it’s clear in this book just how amazing it is.

She binds everything together seamlessly, and if you’ve read her other series Lady of Darkness before this one, the interconnections are just so beautifully written. This is a series you can theorise and look for clues in until you crumble, and I truly love it.

The characters have depth and grow and no one is perfect. There’s so much to unpack, and the mental health and trauma rep is exceptional.

I highly recommend this series to everyone!

Do I recommend this book: 👍
Will I read the next book in the series: 🤷‍♀️

Theon was back at it, acting like he ruled the world and making me want to throw my book across the room. His mood swings and the way he treated Tessa were downright infuriating.

I get it, Theon’s need for control comes from his twisted idea that control equals safety, and safety equals love. But seriously, his jerk behavior was just too much at times.

I did enjoy the side characters, and the story itself had potential. But the plot moved at a snail’s pace, and the ending left me feeling unsatisfied. Honestly, I’m on the fence about picking up the next book in the series.
