Must read. This book is so incredibly salient and prescient. If you are feeling overwhelmed and despairing in the face of the horrors of the world, please please read this. I need to purchase the print book to highlight and annotate. I can't recommend it enough
Omg!! Y’all NAN!! I adore that dirty bird. She is a hoot
Very informative and impactful read on organizing!
This will prove ever more important as we enter these dark times. This book is a call for greater focus on community organizing and mutual aid in activist groups, and positions these as the core of activist movements.
There is a clear lack of direction in leftwing activism, which makes it too weak a force in fighting oncoming fascism. People are angry, but they aren't connected, and they don't have any practice with real commitment to each other.
This outlines key facets of community care and organizing, from experienced activists. Especially with the mass disabling of COVID, we need this sort of encouragement to return to leftist roots. The Black Panthers were well known for their program providing children in need with breakfasts, a program which was intensely fought as a threat by the U.S. government.
Community and care for others is in direct antithesis to capitalism, but too many leftists focus on nitpicking and infighting, searching for absolute perfection in activism, rather than on building structures which will help others and in doing so bring more into our fight.
The wisdom outlined here needs to be read by all for an introduction to this topic and inspiration to connect deeper and build solid structures to help us survive these oncoming years.

Excellent read for those of us who are new to organizing and mutual aid, and also those of us who may be very burnt out by it.
This was a wonderful guide and book of hard work and triumphs, it made me much more emotional than I expected.
