"The doom reserved for enemies
marches on the ones we love the most."

Recently, I read Antigone, a play written by Sophocles in approximately 441 B.C. It was short enough for me to read in one sitting, which I greatly appreciated, and entertaining enough that I didn't want to put it down. It is a brief tale that takes place without dragging out any action to unnecessary length. This might be the one for you if you're searching for a short, plot-driven play with lots of drama and death.
