I wanted to like this book. I really did. And the premise is interesting, which is what drew me to the book to begin with. But the writing is mediocre, the storytelling is awful, and the dang characters just state the obvious, say their emotions instead of conveying them, and repeat themselves constantly. The whole book just felt so contrived and forced. I can see how the story itself could draw attention to make it into a movie, much like The Hunger Games did, but like The Hunger Games, the storytelling sucks. I give it 1/5 for the premise, but those final four stars aren't even a glimmer in the eye of this book.

Lord of flies with running and more organization, twists and bad grievers.

I seriously didn't like this book. First the story is boring, finishing to read it was really difficult. It has been years since I read a book so slow. Moreover no one of the characters seems real. I'm going to read the sequel only because I always finish what I read, but I don't really hope in a better book.

Great book! I was in suspense through this whole book. I couldn't figure out what was coming next. I loved it and can't wait for the next one.

3-1/2 stars. As mentioned in one of my updates this was a reread. I read these sometime in high school/college maybe before it was a completed series. I don’t remember ever finishing the series so I thought I’d make an attempt. I’m not sure if I struggled to pick this one up because I was already mostly aware of what was going to happen or if I was fighting a slump. I told myself I had to finish this before I could start ACOWAR lol
