Excellent Japanese to English translation. Explains disparities between the cultures of Japan and the English-speaking world. The "Western" or 洋風 style of binary gender presentation of course differs greatly from that seen in a country with fundamentally different attitudes towards familial piety, sex, and societal harmony. *shakes fist at evangelical Christianity*

I really try not to dnf books as much as I can. But I read this around the same time I read other graphic memoirs and I realized the differences that made me love those others but not care for this one. Now this is a memoir. It's someones experience and I'm not stopping this because of that or saying it's "bad" because of that. The weird pacing, the way panels are situated which cause everything to feel out of place and hard to read, the confusing moments where you don't really know who you are looking at character wise, and just the flow of each page are what is making me dnf this. Who knows maybe one day I will pick this back up but for now I think I'm done.
