I remember reading this book as a little girl and loved it. Now rereading it at 22 it is as sweet and lighthearted as I remember. The book is perfect for young readers and has a great message about the importance of family.

Stupid fairy stories. I like this one too much and it is one of those I re-read every once in a while so I can, you know, recommend it once in a while with complete certainty. Why? I think it's a great introduction to some Feels for the newly independent reader that aren't schmaltzy and glittery. There is no glitter here.

This was one of my absolute favorite books when I was younger. I remember laughing and crying and loving Gloria, the talking miniature dog. I was always a little sad about the title of the book - it seemed to me like people would not take the book as seriously as I felt it should be taken. I don't remember all of the details, but I do highly recommend the book for younger readers who love fantasy.

This was a great read-aloud for my 5-year-old daughter. Very Diana Wynne Jones, which was a nice surprise, as she's not quite ready for Crestomanci yet.

No Flying in the House is about a young girl who finds out that she's half fairy and is forced to choose between family and magic. It's a fun but simple story written for young readers. Interestingly, something about the book reminded me of [b:Amelia Bedelia|774001|Amelia Bedelia|Peggy Parish|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1178231427s/774001.jpg|888927] although I couldn't put my finger on what, but it turns out the illustrator (Wallace Tripp) also did the illustrations for some of the books in that series.
