Spice level for this book: 1/5, so it's fine

Easy to follow plot, I don’t have any issues with the story. It’s a romance book, you might say BUT its more than just the romance part of the story. There’s an element where the female main character, Crystal Chen, who is a curvy fitness influencer had struggles with maintaining the façade of “body positivity” and “self-love” on social media. So there’s something to reflect on while the oh so slow burn romance with the male main character, Scott Ritchie, is developing behind the scene. Speaking of slow burn romance, oh Lord please help me, I WAS WAITING FOR THEM TO SAY I LOVE YOU FOR SO LONG!!!!!

The interactions between Crystal, her friends, family & especially Scott was good for an adult romance book.

Scott however, what an angel to Crystal, always there whenever she is down & tries his best to defend her on social media once their photo together had been circling around the web. The romance part of it: these two (Crystal & Scott) have lack of communication between each other, that’s all I can say. But it’s okay, they did resolve whatever happened to them.

I appreciate that the author included the content warning in the author’s note. For a debut novel back in 2022, I appreciate the acknowledgement of the sensitive nature/topic of fitness and diet culture that is mentioned in the book as Crystal is a fitness influencer who happened to be plus size.

Okay the ACTUAL writing of the story, I have no complaints about it, easy to read, not all over the place, not draggy & you just felt like you’re following someone story from the side lines.

I enjoyed the book & as a plus size girly myself, I appreciate that author takes notice of how fitness and gym culture may be triggering to some people. Of course I appreciate the representation of plus size people in mainstream media.

Do I recommend this book? Yes, I enjoyed my time reading the book & we can learn something about the struggles that Crystal went through as a fitness influencer while trying to balance her emotion in her love & family life.
