Perhaps a little spicier than my usual but it was so freaking adorable

I loved Crystal as a main character, and I adored the messages about loving the body that you’re in. But I felt like absolutely nothing happened for the first 75% of the book - it was barely enemies to lovers because they kiss within the first few chapters and it’s clear they have feelings for each other, the only thing keeping them back is Crystal’s rebound rule.

And then the conflicts that are introduced are so benign, they end up getting resolved within the same chapter so they’re kind of pointless? Until the photo scandal at the end.

Overall - I didn’t hate it, but I won’t be rushing to recommend it to my friends.

I purchased this as a mystery book, once revealed I don’t think it’d be a book I’d typically reach for. I was unsure how I’d like it, but it’s much shorter than books I typically read so I was determined to give it a shot.

I love love love enemy to lovers type books, so I had high hopes. It has a great pace, even with half the amount of pages I typically go for. The romance development didn’t feel rushed or forced. I despise when authors jump from I hate you to I love you too fast, and that most definitely is not the case here.

I will say the singular POV seemed a bit naive, immature and selfish at times. I tried to let that go, but since the character is 30 years old it was hard to get past the young adult mindset at times.

This book is very realistic with relatable characters. Some of the situations the protagonist was going through was eerily similar to current situations going on in my personal life. It felt as though I was sharing life experiences with a group of friends.

The message in this book is great, and I think many people could learn from it. It tackles the struggles of “self-love” and its unrealistic attainability.

I knocked this book out after a few days. I think it’s a cute, funny and relatable quick read with a great message. I would definitely recommend this book.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series as well.

Okay yes I am all for body positivity and curvy girls working out without feeling the need to “better themselves” but that’s all this book ended up being. It was working so hard to be inspirational/motivational that the “romance” got completely lost. And with how pop culturey it was the inspirational/motivational aspects felt more cringey than anything. Like I think they may have talked about Peter Kavinsky more than the story that was actually about him did…the beginning was so so but from 70% on I was like OMG COME ON. But I was too far in to DNF:/:/

Firstly I didn’t really look too hard at the description of this book if I had and saw that it was about an ‘influencer’ then I probably wouldn’t have read it as I have zero time for most of the utter rot that comes out of their mouths not to mention I pretty much detest social media and the fact that because of it we’re a society of lemmings stuck with our heads down, thumbs moving, phone scrolling as we ignore the rest of the world. Besides this I think this book started off quite well, I liked the banter between the two main characters and who hasn’t been annoyed at someone for hogging the gym equipment, when you are waiting on it. Unfortunately it wasn’t long before my patience for Crystal began to wear thin especially when she got on her high horse about people being judgmental towards her and the audience she is trying to influence because Crystal as it turns out is the queen of being judgmental and prejudice. As for her posts I ended up skimming them as I was so annoyed by the repetitive request for her followers to preach self-love and constantly harping on and on was exhausting, plus don’t get me started on the reason she broke up with Scott which was too stupid for words.

This is the first in a series of 3 which I’ll probably check the other two out as the writing was good and they feature characters that appeared in this story even though they are supposedly ‘influencers’

Loved this romance! A body positive advocate fitness instagramer and firefighter navigating the beginnings of a relationship. The FMC is super relatable. Highly recommend when looking for a quick, light read.
