So fun! this was so impressive for a debut, there were some nitpicks i could get in to to do with telling us something happened rather than showing buuuut i don’t want to, to be frank! cos i just enjoyed the story so much <3
First of all I looooooooved Scott! i loved that he was a firefighter, i loved that he didn’t ever watch movies (me), i love how much he loved winding up Crystal

update: changing to a 3 star because the mental health comments were very insensitive and not correct in this book. “split personality disorder” is an outdated term and should not have been used to describe scott’s mood swings. the author should have done more research on this topic before publishing
4.5*
such an amazing debut! i loved both scott and crystal so much, their relationship was the cutest ever. i also loved all the talks about self-acceptance from reading crystals instagram posts and i thought the comments on them were very realistic as to what fitness influencers go through. overall this was an amazing book and i cannot wait for amy lea’s next book about tara!!

This was so so cute and so sexy and so empowering and so much fun.
Jam packed with all the good things you’d want in a romance novel, this is an absolute must read.

Thank you, Berkeley Romance, for gifting me a review copy of Set on You by Amy Lea.
Set on You is exactly what my heart and mind needed. I’m so grateful for Crystal Chen as a body-positive curvy main character. The enemies-to-lovers is my favorite romance trope, so I was investing from the beginning. Scott and Crystal are my favorites with their humor and playful banter. I laughed out loud many times while reading this book. The audiobook was delightful. I would defiantly recommend this book.

Strong Character Growth
The writing here was charming, a little spicy (in the best way), and really dug into its theme of self growth and awareness. The final payoff felt like it took a little longer, but the development of the main character felt very earned. Loved the interactions between these two characters in and out of gym.

It’s a pretty basic-ass rom-com, except for the fact that it has Curvy Asian Girl rep. And maybe that’s the point - everyone deserves a basic-ass rom-com? Nah, everyone deserves better. It’s cute enough. Zero personalities on these people at all. Too much millennial internet drama I can’t relate to. Not the book’s fault there, I suppose.
Looks like it’s going to be a series, as this chick and her friends are all IG influencers… will I read them? Probably - I may not be a millennial IG influencer, but what the fuck else do I have going on?

Things I enjoyed:
• Crystal and Scott were cute together.
• Pretty good coverage on being curvy and a gym-lover.
• The spicy scenes (what can I say I’m basic)
Things I didn’t enjoy:
• The pacing was a little off, with the beginning feeling slow and then a big time jump.
• The third act breakup annoyed me a lot and although I understood where she was coming from, I was annoyed that Crystal denounced the terms ‘body-positivity’ and ‘self love’.
• For a book that has a strong theme of ‘all body types are beautiful’, Scott being muscular was really sexualised and it felt like that was the only reason he was deemed good looking. I just think a little more emphasis on all bodies being beautiful instead of just women’s would have made the book better.
