You need to read at least one or two of the previous books in the Saga to understand the world building and story line. It is a bit messy (like Eve) I ended up skipping some parts.

If you have found the Sweetverse through one of Kathryn’s or Lana’s other books, you should know that Eve will not give you the same cozy vibes you may have encountered with other alphas. The title of this book is not a play on words or a cute nickname her omega calls her, instead it is meant literally. And I would like to add that I AM HERE FOR IT! Normally when I write a review about one of Kathryn’s books, I am gushing over her world building abilities or praising her incomparable spicy scenes and sensuality. (After all, her genre is ‘it’s a different world than ours and they bang’.) Bad Alpha is excellent because of those of course, but my attention was seized by Eve, the unrelenting assassin and first female alpha I’ve had the honor to come across.

Eve, the alpha-est alpha to ever live. She earned her title not by being the strongest in the room or the one with the loudest bark, but instead was forced to bite and claw her way to dominance after being cast into the all-male alpha area of her orphanage. She has the kind of origin story that either creates a meek and broken person, or someone powerful, unforgiving, and even a bit morally gray in the way they approach the world; Eve is definitely the latter. Picture Marvel’s Black Widow, but even less compromising and more hardcore. Kathryn had a vision for Eve and the best part is that she also refused to compromise and doesn’t ease the reader by making Eve a simpering love bug by the end of the story. Nope. We have the opportunity to see her edges soften enough to acknowledge she gets her HEA, but she still maintains her gritty and unflinching undertones.

Eve snatches up her omega, Adam, almost immediately, with the plan to most likely kill him in the morning, like a modern day Dread Pirate Roberts. Unfortunately for that plan, either her possessiveness, her hidden loneliness, or the charm of a needy omega con artist prevent her from following through. Rather than the bonds of a pack solidifying through the book being the focus, as is often the case, Kathryn spends more of her words on Eve teetering on the edge of personal growth while warring with the need to flee into the night, to find solace in the next suicide mission. Kathryn does not sacrifice the other characters to give us Eve, but manages to give you a pack to yearn for in Adam (the smart and lovely omega), Garret (Eve’s foil as the ideal alpha lover for Adam), Rory (the crusty cinnamon roll alpha), and Jamie (the alpha that won’t cower to Eve, but also becomes her safe space). I loved all of the guys so much and was enthralled by the development of the pack relationships alongside the chaotic drama of facing down a shady worldwide omega trafficking ring. The hope for survival was intense and the plot was anxiety-inducing and it was exactly the kind of story that Eve was always meant to flourish in. All y’all over there listing Lola as your comfort read, but I think I’m going to claim this dreamy bad alpha as mine!

An omega running for his life tricks the women that was sent to kill him to bond with him instead, what could go wrong?

Kathryn Moon never misses. She is the queen of omegaverse! Every book has a completely different dynamic from the previous book which keeps it interesting. In this case, the FMC Eve, isn’t an omega or a beta but an alpha. Not just any alpha but one that dominates everyone else. She’s tough and very closed off so it was fun seeing how the pack wiggled their way through her defences.

I typically like OVs because of how sweet they are and I love seeing a bunch of people doting on the MC but that isn’t what happens here. Eve is fairly cold, doesn’t like being touched or held and is very independent so there weren’t many cosey moments. It was still an interesting dynamic to read about though. I haven’t read maybe books where the FMC is the dominant one but it was fun and new. I liked the guys too. I didn’t love them but they were good MMCs and fit well with Eve.

The plot in this one was actually more interesting than the others. It wasn’t just an evil omega but a whole corrupt business trying to kill Adam. I have been dragging my feet reading all of her OVs because they’re so good and I don’t want to finish them so quickly but I might just have to jump right into the next one this time!

OH MY FXXXXXING GOD....can I just say this is my second fave book in his series next to Lola and the Millionaires.

SOME SPOILERS SO STOP READING IF YOU MUST!!!!

Let me be clear EVE is that Bitch...she is a queen who knows what she wants and takes and asks questions never. Literally she is the center of the pack and the glue literally holding the lonely individuals together. I loved how she was introduced in Lola's book and now in her own book her mission is to Kill an Omega (Adam), who she ends up bonding falling for. Even though she gives you that I don't give a fuck demenor she absolutely cares she is just really good at compartmentalizing her emotions due to her tramatic upbringing. Considering it is rare for female Alphas to exist. She literally had to fight her way to being as tough as she was.

So character from most fave to least(not really least just not fave fave if you know what I mean) fave. So again Eve top tear character, loved how her development was slow and steady...def showcased imaculate growth as a person. Like who doesn't love a dominate female who can hold her own in the bedroom and as an assassin. 2nd Fave was Rory, ok so my man literally was the definition of could kill you but is a cinnamon roll. He comes off as really dominate but is literally a pussycat cause he likes to be dominated in the bed room. Dude literally was whipped by Eve, she had my guy DOWN BAD....like is is dangerous in his own right, just likes to be dominated...this fictionally was my type of man. Loved loved loved him. Now Jamie was the silent but deadly type, he was to me what I consider Eve's equal, like the most compatible. Like she felt nonthreatened by him but knew that he could handle his own. He was like her confidant and she felt he understood her in a different way. He was a cinammon roll who could kill you, I like to think

Brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same

I saw someone say that this installation of Moon's Sweetverse lacked the chemistry of Baby + Lola's stories and, respectfully, what book were you reading, bestie? Because it can't have been this one. I loved Eve's tough-as-nails persona. It's refreshing seeing a femme character be the hardass in charge for once. And a woman of colour, no less.

Kathryn Moon never disappoints!! I’ve loved every single one of her books and this was no different. She’s the queen of omegaverse in my eyes because she always gets everything right — the nesting, the scent marks, then bonding, the knotting; it’s all perfect.

Eve was such a complex character, and I knew she’d have quite the journey ahead of her. Her character growth was so beautiful. After her traumatic past and being a lone soldier for so long, bonding an omega and having a pack were the absolute last things on her mind, but Adam, Garrett, Rory, and Jamie were the perfect matches for her. I loved all of their unique personalities; each one of them spoke to a different side of Eve.

The plot flowed beautifully and there was so much action over the course of a book. There’s never a dull moment here. And the spicy scenes were full on. I did wish there was a pack heat or group scene, but we were definitely spoiled with what we got, so I can’t be upset.

Looking forward to Faith but also sad that it’s the last one as of now. The Sweetverse has been such an amazing series and I never want it to end!
