It began to feel unnecessarily drawn out, it was rather interesting until the halfway point.

sooo much fun. It's silly, creative, witty, clever and suspenseful while being surprisingly touching and human. It's a great mix of detective work, relationships, surreality(superreality?), and futurism. I started reading it on the plane on a visit home and i honestly had an urge to ignore all my friends and park myself on the deck with this book instead. (no offense to any friends who might be reading :) ) It gets progressively darker, more emotional, and unfortunately somewhat over-wrought near the end. Also, there's some attempt at philosophy. I wasn't as excited about the ending as the first-half, but still certainly worth the read, and I'll check out some other stuff by Smith just to see.

Just couldn't bring myself to keep reading this, even though I was about 2/3 through. Didn't grab my attention and I kept losing track of who was who.
