The Good Girl

4 stars. The Good Girl is a good read! This is Preston and Sydney's book. Preston is the son of the hero in The Doctor, who is now dating his ex-girlfriend, Cassidy. Sydney is the younger sister of Colin, who is the hero in The Frat Boy and is Preston's best friend. Sydney grew up several years younger than her brother and his friends. Preston never noticed her very much until at a college graduation party where she came to support Colin. Now Sydney is more grown up and beautiful. He doesn't know who she is at first and is interested in her right away, but soon finds out when Colin calls her off limits. Sparks flew between them, but Preston honors Colin's wishes. A year later, fate brings them together again. This time they find they can't stay apart. Sydney is dealing with her very strict parents who alienated and disowned Colin. Now, they are also trying to control her life and force her to continue college, when she actually wants to be a professional chef. She is feeling stifled and not able to make her own choices. One way she can take control of her life is by pretending to date Preston to make them mad. She and Preston have a connection and chemistry. Along they way, he gives her lessons on how to no longer be a good girl. Things get complicated as they try to keep their fake relationship a secret from Colin and as they develop real feelings for each other.

This is the best book of the series so far. It is hot, spicy and sweet and I enjoyed it a lot. I really liked Preston and Sydney and felt they made a good match. Sydney was shy and had been a good girl her whole life. Being with Preston made her feel free to be herself more. She didn't become a completely different person, but with him, she could let loose. As for Preston, he has grown and become a better man since the others books in the series. I wasn't bothered by his history with Cassidy (his ex who is dating his father). I think this was the safest book of the series, but still super steamy. Preston was possessive and not willing to share Sydney. I did want a little more conversation and resolution after the climax, but I still really enjoyed this one.

Overall, The Good Girl was an enjoyable, spicy and sweet read. I was glad to see Preston and Sydney happy together and I hope we get a glimpse of their future in more books down the line. I look forward to more from this fun series and Ms. Sloane in the future!

I was so excited to get a redemption story for Preston! He was a complete douche canon in book 1 (The Doctor). He was a selfish character that took his ex Cassidy for granted and realized it way too late. It’s been 4 years since The Doctor and Preston has grown and matured. I understand he was an immature kid still in The Doctor, but from book 1 to now he had so much growth and I loved that! Sydney is Preston’s best friend Colin’s (The Frat Boy) little sister and everyone tells her what’s best for her. But they never actually ask her what she wants, until Preston. They start sexy lessons that lead to undeniable feelings that cause a riff between Preston and Colin. It’s the typical you’re not allowed to date my sister and they do it anyway.

Preston and Sydney have an easy but genuine chemistry that I really enjoyed. After all the trials each couple especially Colin and Maddison went through I was really surprised at how mad he was. Not one couple in this series has room to judge anyone and that actually irked me a bit. Also I really thought Preston fumbled it a bit when confronting Colin, though it really was a realistic reaction. I have enjoyed this series.

Colin and Maddison’s story was my favorite because I love the enemies to lovers (their jobs after getting together wasn’t my cup of tea) but I loved it nonetheless. I honestly would say Preston and Sydney would be my fave story of the series, but it just lacked a little for me. I don’t necessarily know what, but it did. I honestly truly enjoyed and loved them though.
