I'm not normally a fan of chick lit, but I have enjoyed every one of Taylor Jenkins Reid's books, this book included. I think she is a great writer. I thought the characters were all well written. I felt for Emma and the decisions she had to make. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Jenkins Reid.

Not as amazing as the rest of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books that I’ve read but still an excellent read!

Taylor Jenkins Reid continues to write about life beautifully. I love how she is able to bottle up little pieces of complex human problems and serve them in a story.

Plot: This novel is about a 31 year old woman who gets engaged to a wonderful man years and after her former husband and high school sweetheart is lost at sea and announced dead. When he turns up 3.5 years later - what does she do?

This book deals with grief as well as some of the less polished parts of growing up like how experiencing life changes you, and it’s okay to want something different than your younger self. We don’t talk about that as much as we should when we get older. We grow and change and adapt and the person we are today is never going to be the same as the person we were in the past, we are a summation of that person… who is going to continue changing. La la land vibes from this one for sure.

“I am who I am because I loved you once”

I didn't connect with the story and its characters, it felt very superficial to me.

I feel like the story and characters weren't as deeply explored as I'd need them to be, for me to connect and care about the outcome. I think it's a good book, the writing is simple and easy to follow, and the story is interesting.

Buuut, to me, it seemed quite obvious what the ending would be; even though, there were a few curve balls about "how could she ever expect to feel this way with anyone else?" I could tell she had a favouriteee -*cof cof* how he made her feel like the funniest person when she didn't even think she was funny, how she felt like her truest self with this man.

Good read, a bit sad.

Rounding down a little. This book wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t nearly as captivating as Reid’s other novels. I mostly picked it up because I am a huge fan of Daisy Jones & the six, the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and Malibu Rising. This one is much less historical fiction, much more romance. The feelings in it are real which I appreciate, but it’s less hard hitting and more of a light beach read.
